Programs for Children
At Bedford Presbyterian Church we provide opportunities for our children and youth to learn and interpret the Bible, to feel a sense of belonging within the community of faith, and to develop an awareness of God’s presence in their lives in an open, caring, supportive and fun atmosphere.
Age: 3 years old - 8th Grade
Sunday school classes are available for children three-years-old through 8th grade on Sunday mornings between September and June. During the 2009-2010 year preschool through 5th grade will be taught using a curriculum by Cokesbury called Rock Solid. The mission of Rock Solid is to create a faith strong enough to be with our children for the rest of their lives - a faith that will sustain them in good times as well as in difficult times. For more information please visit www.cokesbury.com. For additional information about our educational programs for children please email Kathy DiBiasi, our Director of Educational Ministries.
Programs for Middle School Students
Age: 6th - 8th Grade
Our Middle School Sunday School program (6th – 8th grade) meets every week in the Youth Room except for the first Sunday of each month when youth are given the opportunity to usher before and during worship. In addition, Middle School youth are asked to remain in the sanctuary during special worship services, as indicated in the church bulletin. While in Sunday school our adult volunteers strive to create an environment where our youth can talk about issues important to them and also show them how their faith can guide and support them. Some of the topics that may be discussed are family, friends, school, grades, peer pressure, self esteem, poverty and community service. Bible scripture, video clips and articles will all be used as starting points for discussion. Click here for more information or email Kathy DiBiasi.

Programs for High School Students
|
 |
Our ministry with high school students focuses largely on providing opportunities for our high school students to put their faith into action and then to reflect together about what they are learning and experiencing. Each summer since 1990 high school students and their adult leaders have traveled to Appalachia to work with Buchanan Neighbors United to do home repair work in that impoverished part of our country. And, since 1996, working with Bridges to Community, groups of high school students and adults have traveled to Nicaragua to build homes for families. In addition to these trips, our high school students are involved in the work which we do with Habitat for Humanity, The Midnight Run and the Emergency Shelter Partnership

Throughout the year we plan a variety of classes and learning opportunities for adults. Many of the classes are led the The Rev. Paul Alcorn or The Rev. Rachel Thompson. Participation is open to members and friends of BPC and any member of the community who would like to participate. Occasionally, classes are taught by outside leadership with a special expertise. For information about current classes please click the "Current Events" button on our homepage.
In addition to the evening classes offered throughout the year, there are also occasional programs following worship on Sunday morning, an ongoing Tuesday morning Bible Study, and two spirituality groups.
For more information about our programs for adults please be in touch
with the Rev. Rachel Thompson.
