Habitat for Humanity of Westchester

Habitat for Humanity of Westchester began in 1988. It is a Christian-based ministry working to provide homes for people who are in need. The aim is to build simple, decent homes and sell them to families who otherwise cannot afford homes. The cost is reduced by donations of labor and materials. Homes are sold at cost with a small down payment and interest-free mortgage.

What Our Church Does: Financial support; on "2x4 Sunday," Habitat sells 2x4s to church members who in turn donate the wood back to Habitat. Habitat uses the 2x4s to build a home. We also send teams of volunteer workers to Habitat home construction sites.

What You Can Do:
  • Purchase wood and/or help on "2x4 Sunday"
  • Volunteer to work at a Habitat home construction site
  • Contribute funds for home construction
When: "2x4 Sunday" in September; periodic construction projects
