Work Trips

Church-led work trips provide opportunities for individuals to work on community development projects, both in the United States and abroad, and to learn from interactions with local community members.

What Our Church Does: Financial support and volunteer work on location. Previous trips include:
  • Hurley, VA: For the past eight years, BPC volunteers have worked to help this economically disadvantaged town in western Virginia. Projects have included building additions, repairing roofs and renovating floors and walls damaged by water.
  • San Simon, El Salvador: In 1996, BPC volunteers worked with San Simon community members to build a chicken coop. Eggs, a food staple of the region, are currently being sold to neighboring communities.
  • La Orilla, Nicaragua: In 1998, BPC volunteers worked with La Orilla community members to begin the construction of a preschool and nutrition center for the many malnourished children in the area.
What You Can Do:
  • Volunteer as an adult leader or student worker
  • Help raise funds for the trip
When: Hurley: annual trip; abroad: every other year

Volunteers: Adult, HS
